Welcome to Amergin
Tipperary Institute has been involved in the field of sustainable energy since 1996. From its initial involvement in a range of European Funded Project it created the Amergin Centre for Sustainable Energy Development in 2002.
Amergin is a cross-departmental Centre of excellence bringing together expertise in the fields of environmental science, sustainable development, engineering, physics, electronics and administration. Its staff of six programme specialists and one administrator have extensive experience in the sustainable energy sector covering research, project development, training and education and policy development. The Centre has particular expertise in the fields of biomass and bioenergy, passive solar and sustainable building and micro-renewables.
Amergin's Mission is:
‘to participate in the development and implementation of sustainable energy policy and practice in order to achieve environmental, economic and social benefits and to contribute to the overall mission of the Institute’
